11 May 2026

On May 9–10, students of the School of Tourism took part in an adventure and educational field tour in Imereti.

Within the framework of the tour, the students visited the Gezruli Tea farm, where they toured the tea plantations and production facility. Participants tasted different varieties of local tea and learned about the history and development of tea culture in Georgia.

The group then travelled to Sviri Adventure Camp, where students completed two adventure routes and visited a rock-hewn monastery. In the evening, the camp founder delivered an informal lecture to the students and shared his professional experience.

On the second day of the tour, the students visited the Katskhi Pillar and later toured Korena, an agritourism farm located in the village of Gelati. There, they had the opportunity to participate in the preparation of Imeretian khachapuri and neshoiani mchadi.

The students also learned about the history of the site’s establishment and the specific nature of its activities, and concluded the visit by tasting local traditional dishes.

The tour was led by Nino Tigishvili, Assistant Professor at the School of Tourism, and Tornike Furtseladze, Administrative Director of the programs. The tour was also attended by Diko Kopaleishvili, Dean of the School.
