As part of the RE-DIRECTION project, an ambitious initiative to transform higher education in Ukraine and Georgia, a comprehensive Methodological Framework has been developed. This framework is designed to address skill gaps in digital transformation, sustainability, and inclusivity, with a strong emphasis on equipping students and educators with the digital competencies essential for thriving in a rapidly evolving world.
The framework identifies key areas where digital skills need to be enhanced, including:
- Digital Literacy: Addressing varying levels of familiarity with digital tools among students and faculty, focusing on browsing, filtering, and managing data efficiently.
- Digital Collaboration: Promoting the use of online courses, teamwork platforms, and digital communication tools to foster collaborative learning and innovation.
- Cybersecurity Awareness: Building knowledge about digital threats, privacy concerns, and protective measures to ensure secure online interactions.
- Digital Content Creation: Teaching students to create, manage, and refine digital content across formats while adhering to copyright and ethical guidelines.
- Problem-Solving with Digital Tools: Developing the ability to identify issues and innovate solutions using technology, preparing students to tackle real-world challenges.
The framework is underpinned by EU standards, utilizing tools like the DigComp Framework to ensure best practices in delivering these digital competencies. The DACUM methodology, a systematic approach to curriculum development, serves as the foundation for redesigning educational programs, ensuring alignment with industry and societal demands. The framework emphasizes hands-on learning methods such as workshops, problem-based learning, and case studies. By integrating digital tools and platforms, students engage in experiential activities that simulate real-world scenarios. These approaches not only enhance digital literacy but also prepare students to navigate and contribute effectively in digital environments.
About the RE-DIRECTION Project.
RE-DIRECTION constitutes a transformative effort addressing the challenges posed by the expansion of digitalization in higher education (HE). The project unites national actors and stakeholders to address the unique needs of higher education institutions (HEIs) in Ukraine and Georgia. By training staff and trainers, redesigning curricula, and crafting policy recommendations, the project seeks to bridge gaps in connectivity for remote HEIs and students.
