Economics Part II // Master of Research

Two study options:


• Full-time: 1 year

Language of Instruction: Georgian.

Qualification Awarded: Research Master of Economics.

 

Program Description:

 

The second part of the program comprises 60 ECTS credits. It is designed to provide students with in-depth and systematic knowledge of modern economic research methods and econometric analysis. The program develops the ability to independently design research, formulate research problems and hypotheses, select appropriate methodologies, collect, process, and analyze economic data, and correctly interpret research findings. Students will be able to investigate contemporary economic issues using modern theoretical and empirical approaches. The program also develops academic writing, scientific argumentation, and research paper structuring skills, preparing students to independently complete and successfully defend a master's thesis.

 

Career Opportunities:

 

The qualification of Master of Research in Economics prepares graduates for careers in government and international organizations, research and consulting centers, financial institutions, and academia. Graduates may work as economists, researchers, policy analysts, or data analysts. Employment opportunities include research and analytical centers, the Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, the Ministry of Finance, the National Statistics Office, the National Bank, local self-government bodies, the Government of Georgia, banks, insurance companies, audit firms, retail companies, educational institutions, and other organizations.

 

Further Study:

 

After completing the second part of the program, graduates are eligible to continue their studies at the doctoral (PhD) level.

 

Flexibility:

 

Classes are scheduled in the evening, allowing students to combine employment and study effectively. Each course is taught one day per week.

The second part consists of 60 ECTS credits (30 ECTS per semester). All courses are related to the core field and strengthened by a research component.



Compulsory component – 48 ECTS, entirely devoted to research, including: Master's Thesis – 30 ECTS, Elective component – 12 ECTS, selected from courses totaling 24 ECTS.

 

Program Structure.

Admission Requirements:

 

Admission to Part II requires successful completion of Part I of the program. Graduates of Part I may continue to Part II (60 ECTS) without taking the national master's admission examination, provided no more than five years have passed since enrollment in Part I. After five years, applicants must pass the master's admission examination.



Applicants who completed the first 60-credit part of an equivalent master's program (minimum 120 ECTS) at another higher education institution must also pass the master's admission examination.



Applicants must pass the Caucasus University's B2 English language examination or present an accepted language certificate (IELTS 6.0, TOEFL -78, another internationally recognized B2 certificate, or another exemption under university regulations).



Applicants must also successfully complete an interview with the Graduate Admissions Committee of the Caucasus School of Economics.

  • Military service document (for male applicants)
  • Two 3×4 photographs and CD
  • Motivation letter (maximum 500 words)
  • Two recommendation letters
  • Completed application form

 

Payment Method

 

Tuition fees are paid on a semester basis according to the number of credits taken.
