Caucasus University President Dr. Kakha Shengelia hosted Seleni Matus, George Washington University's International Institute of Tourism Studies (USA).
During the visit, a working meeting was held with Nino Kalandadze, Dean of Caucasus School of Tourism, Giorgi Bregadze, Associate Professor and Head of the Research and Planning Division of the National Tourism Administration, Irena Melua, Director of the International Relations and Projects Department. The main topic of the meeting was the technical and substantive issues of the summer educational program planned within the framework of the cooperation between the universities.
In June of this year, a delegation of students and professors from George Washington University will be hosted by Caucasus School of Tourism. The main theme of the summer educational program is "Gastronomy and Wine Tourism".
Students at George Washington University will conduct a 4-week thematic study under the supervision of Giorgi Bregadze, a full professor at the Caucasus School of Tourism. Participants will spend two weeks in Tbilisi and Kakheti region within the framework of the program. They will take part in workshops, sessions or practical activities specially planned for them, which will significantly contribute to raising awareness about Georgian wine culture and implementing new research projects.
It is noteworthy that the visit is part of a partnership between Caucasus University and USAID's Economic Security Program, which continues in 2020 with the support of the United Nations World Tourism Organization (UNWTO) for international accreditation (TedQual).
