Presentation of the findings from the collaborative research initiative between George Washington University and Caucasus Universities

A presentation of the findings from a collaboration between the students of Caucasus Tourism School and the Tourism and Business Administration Student-Research Group from George Washington University was taken place on July 1, at Caucasus University.

 

The research was carried out in Kakheti, where participants met with representatives from the tourism industry, administration, and various industry associations to survey the main wine and gastronomy tourism facilities. Students developed recommendations as a result of the research for: offering new products, improving quality, entering new markets, improving positioning, and marketing effectiveness. 

 

Dean of Caucasus School of Tourism - Nino Kalandadze, George Washington University's International Institute of Tourism Studies (USA) - Seleni Matus, Full Professor at Caucasus University, Associate Researcher at TBC Bank - Giorgi Bregadze, Senior Private Sector Development Advisor, Office of Economic Growth USAID Georgia - David Tsiklauri, greeted the audience with a speech. 

 

Mark McCord, Chief of Party for the USAID Economic Security Program; Natia Vepkhvadze, USAID Economic Security Program, Head of the Human Resources Development Department; along with representatives from the tourism and food industries attended the event.

 

On June 19, Tourism and Business Administration Student-Research Group from George Washington University (United States) paid a two-week visit to Caucasus University. 

 

The purpose of the visit was for George Washington University professors and students to study the potential of Georgian wine and gastronomic tourism alongside students from the Caucasus University Tourism School, and to conduct joint research on the example of the Kakheti region, developing relevant findings and recommendations.

 

The project was being carried out as part of a collaborative research project between Caucasus University, George Washington University, the Georgian National Tourism Administration, with the support of the USAID Economic Security Program.
