Annual Assembly of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA)

20 April 2026

From April 15 to 17, the Annual General Assembly and Conference of the European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) was held at the University of Deusto in Bilbao, Spain.

Caucasus University was represented at the event by Sophia Shengelia, Dean of the Caucasus School of Law. This year’s conference focused on Rethinking Legal Education in the Age of AI.

The programme featured several panel discussions addressing key issues at the intersection of artificial intelligence and the legal profession, combining practical insights with forward-looking perspectives on the future of legal education and practice.

A notable outcome of the General Assembly was the election of Barbara Pozzo, Rector’s Delegate for Internationalization at the University of Insubria in Como and Varese, Italy, as the new President of ELFA. The Assembly also reviewed the organization’s future development priorities, renewed the composition of its Governing Council, and approved the budget for the coming year.

It is also worth noting that Caucasus School of Law has been a member of ELFA since 2008. The European Law Faculties Association is the only organization at the European level representing law faculties that are actively engaged in legal education and training.
