Why LLM at Caucasus University–its implications?

 

The Master’s Program in Law consists of two parts, each comprising 60 ECTS credits, for a total of 120 ECTS credits. As a rule, a student’s annual academic workload is 60 ECTS credits and may not exceed 75 ECTS credits. Each part of the Master’s Program lasts one academic year.

 

The educational Program brings together a team of highly qualified professionals, including researcher-theorists and specialists with unique legal practice. Their aim is to prepare, within a short period of time, a new generation of lawyers with qualifications relevant to the needs of employers.

 

Students of the Master’s Program at the School of Law will take English-language courses within the general university and English-language components of the Program, which will help them deepen their knowledge of legal English.

 

Caucasus School of Law is distinguished by the diversity of its legal clinics. Master’s students have the opportunity to undertake practical training in both public and private organizations.

 

A Master of Laws graduate may be employed in the public, private, and international sectors in positions requiring a Master’s academic degree in law, provided that Georgian legislation does not prescribe any additional qualification or certification requirements.

 

A Master of Laws graduate is qualified to engage in professional activities focused on the analysis of complex legal issues, legal counselling, and decision-making. The graduate may also undertake independent academic and research activities at the national and international levels.

 

Upon completion of the second 60-credit part of the Program and the award of the qualification of Research Master in Law, the graduate, in addition to the professional activities mentioned above, may carry out independent academic and research activities, be employed in higher education and research institutions, research and analytical centers, international organizations, and institutions working in the field of legal policy analysis and development.

 

Tuition fee: GEL 7,990 per year for citizens of Georgia.

 

The Master’s Program in Law consists of two parts, each comprising 60 ECTS credits, for a total of 120 ECTS credits. As a rule, a student’s annual academic workload is 60 ECTS credits and may not exceed 75 ECTS credits. Accordingly, each part of the Master’s Program lasts one academic year.

 

Although the Master’s Program in Law is structured as two consecutive 60-ECTS parts, it constitutes a unified educational Program based on a learning-outcomes-oriented approach. This ensures the gradual, logical, and interconnected development of competences throughout the Program.

 

The first 60-credit part of the Program is focused on specialisation in one or more fields of law, the development of professional and practical competences, and the formation of the ability to analyse and resolve legal problems. This part includes theoretical study courses, both mandatory and elective, practical components such as case studies, moot court exercises, clinical education, and other activities aimed at the practical application of professional ethics, the development of academic integrity, and legal argumentation.

 

The second 60-credit part builds upon the competences developed during the first part and is focused on the development of in-depth theoretical and analytical knowledge, the strengthening of research competences, and the independent analysis and resolution of complex legal problems. It includes the development of research methodology and academic writing skills, further deepening of specialisation, and a research component, namely the Master’s thesis, worth 30 ECTS credits, which is based on independent research and complies with the standards of academic integrity.

 

After the completion of the optimal duration of the Master’s Program, namely two years, if the student has not fully completed the theoretical, practical, and/or research components, the Master’s student is entitled to complete the Program within no more than the following six additional semesters. During the additional semesters, the student retains student status, while the tuition fee is determined in proportion to the number of credits to be taken, based on the annual tuition fee established for the Program.

 

 

Admission rules:
 
 

Admission to the first part of the Master’s Program in Law requires:

 

  • a Bachelor’s degree in Law or an equivalent academic degree. The right to study on the Master’s Program may also be granted to a graduate of a relevant Program of a foreign university, as well as to students holding a Bachelor’s academic degree in Law who are enrolled in Master’s Programs in Law in Georgia or abroad and are admitted through mobility procedures;
  • successful completion of the Unified Master’s Examination administered by the LEPL National Assessment and Examinations Centre;
  • submission of an international certificate confirming at least B2-level proficiency in English, such as IELTS 6.0, TOEFL 78, or another relevant certificate. In the absence of such a certificate, the University shall administer an internal written examination, which includes components assessing English-language comprehension and writing at B2 level, as well as tasks in general logical and quantitative reasoning. An applicant may be exempted from this examination if he/she holds a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree obtained abroad in the language of instruction of the Program, or on the basis of another circumstance determined by the internal regulations of the University;
  • successful completion of an examination and/or interview organized by Caucasus School of Law.

 

Admission to the second part of the Master’s Program in Law requires completion of Part I of the Program.

 

After completing the first part of the Program, a person is entitled to continue studies in the second 60-credit part of the Program without taking the Master’s examination, provided that no more than five years have passed since enrolment in the first part. After the expiry of this period, the person is required to take the Master’s examination in order to be admitted to the second 60-credit part of the Program.

 

After completing the first 60-credit part of the same Master’s educational Program of at least 120 credits at another higher education institution, a person is required to take the Master’s examination in order to be admitted to the second part of this Program.

 

For applicants wishing to obtain a CU grant, the following will be conducted:

 

  • an English-language examination;
  • an examination in the relevant specialization;
  • an interview with field specialists. The interview will be conducted by specialists in the relevant field. See the assessment criteria.

Documents to be Submitted

 

  1. Identity document, passport, and a copy thereof;
  2. A certified copy of the diploma and diploma supplement confirming a Bachelor’s degree in Law or an equivalent academic degree;
  3. Contact details of one referee;
  4. Two photographs, size 3x4, in printed and digital format, on CD;
  5. A copy of the conscription certificate or military card, for applicants subject to military service;
  6. The original certificate confirming successful completion of the Unified Master’s Examination, issued by the National Assessment and Examinations Centre, where available, or a printout from the website of the National Assessment and Examinations Centre showing the scores obtained by the Master’s degree candidate in the Master’s examinations, www.naec.ge;
  7. A motivation letter concerning the applicant’s intention to study on the Program;
  8. Curriculum Vitae, CV, in Georgian;
  9. An international certificate confirming B2-level proficiency in English. In the absence of such a certificate, the University shall assess the applicant’s B2-level proficiency in English through an internal test. The relevant language competence shall be considered equivalent where the applicant submits a document confirming a Bachelor’s or Master’s academic degree obtained abroad, provided that the Program was completed in the relevant language of instruction;
  10. Form 1, concerning personal data, to be completed on site.

 

Dates

 

  • Deadline for submission of documents: September 2026, Room A2;
  • For applicants wishing to obtain a CU grant, the examination in the relevant specialization will be held in September 2026;
  • The English-language examination will be held in September 2026;
  • Interviews with candidates will be held in September 2026.

 

Payment Terms

 

Tuition fees are paid on a semester-by-semester basis, according to the number of credits taken.

In addition to a state grant, Master’s studies may also be financed through a CU grant, which covers 50% of the full Program fee.

 

There are two ways to qualify for a CU grant:

 

  • if you are, or will be, a graduate of a Bachelor’s Program at any university and have a cumulative undergraduate GPA of 3.5 or higher;
  • if you obtain 65% or more of the maximum grant score in the Unified Master’s Examination.

 

If you meet either of these two conditions, you will be eligible to participate in the grant competition and obtain funding.

 

Annual tuition fee for the Master’s Program: [amount to be indicated]

 

  • If a graduate of Caucasus University does not have a GPA of 3.5 or higher, he/she will receive 10% funding for the full Program.
