On October 1, 2010, Davit Sakvarelidze, First Deputy Chief Prosecutor, and Kakha Shengelia, President of Caucasus University, signed an agreement.
Within the framework of the memorandum, the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia will assist the University in training highly professional lawyers. Acting prosecutors will give lectures to students, share their practical work skills, and prepare mock trials with young people.
"Professional development with theoretical knowledge is impossible without practical experience, and for this it is necessary to have close contact of students with lawyers who have extensive experience in practical work," - said Davit Sakvarelidze.
After the memorandum was signed, the students were read out by the First Deputy Chief Prosecutor at the Prosecutor's Office. During the meeting with the students, Davit Sakvarelidze spoke about the reforms implemented in the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia, the new Criminal Procedure Code, in particular, the Institute of Jurors, which has already been launched in Georgia. The students of Caucasus University received information about the ongoing projects in the Prosecutor's Office, in particular, the "Public Prosecutor's Office" project, which involves close cooperation with young people and is mainly focused on crime prevention. It is within this project that prosecutors often visit public schools and colleges and talk directly to young people about the crime and its consequences.
The Memorandum of Understanding between the Prosecutor's Office of Georgia and Caucasus University will enter into force upon signing.
