Enhancing prevention and control measures for healthcare-associated infections (HAI) represents an important challenge for the public health system. HAIs are prevalent complications that impact both patient morbidity and mortality, substantially escalating healthcare costs, despite a significant proportion of them being preventable. The amendment introduced in the Resolution No. 359 of the Government of Georgia of November 22, 2010 "On the Approval of the Technical Regulations of High-Risk Medical Activities" mandates dental service-providing medical institutions to adhere to HAI prevention and control requirements outlined in the regulations, which first and foremost implies personnel training in this regard.
The training program aims to educate dental institution staff in the diagnosis, registration, management, supervision, and prevention of infections associated with medical services. It also focuses on planning, implementing, and evaluating measures related to infection prevention and control; the rational use of antimicrobial drugs and methods of antimicrobial prophylaxis, considering global best practices.
